Reissue of NOVEMBER GRIEF's cult 1995 demo "To Live... In This World of Chaos". Remastered and available for the first time on CD!
Biography:
NOVEMBER GRIEF is a death metal band from Montreal, Canada. Initially called Mistrust, the band was founded in 1993 by Annie Leclerc on drums, as well as vocalist Stéphanie Masson, who took over the bass duties by failing to find anyone to fill the position. The band became complete with the addition of guitarist Véronique Lambert and the trio decided to rename themselves November Grief, according to them more in line with their style. A year later they released their first demo titled “Evil-ution”, recorded in their rehearsal room, with which they began sweeping through the stages of Quebec.
A year later, the sound of November Grief got solidified with the addition of a second guitarist Chantal Levesque - who indeed brought fresh ideas and a more brutal sound, as reflected in their second demo “To Live … In this world of Chaos”. This 10-song demo was recorded in the studio “Le Mur du Son” in four days. It reached a much more professional sound thanks to the work of Jean-Francois Dagenais of Kataklysm, who engineered it. This demo was sold and traded in countries such as France, Poland, Peru and Malaysia, among many others.
In 1997 came the song Spine-Worm on Awakening: Females in Extreme Music.
Sadly, November Grief broke up before that compilation was released.
Cut to 2020 with the release on Temple of Mystery Records of the band’s material on one CD along with the release on FOAD records of the previous releases on vinyl.
November Grief made its triumphant return on stage in 2022 after 25 years at the Xth edition of Montréal’s premier black metal festival, Messe des Morts. They are now writing new material and playing a few shows. The band has performed live with many bands such as Cryptopsy, BARF, Dying Fetus, Regarde Les Hommes Tomber and others.
